We have our fingers on the pulse of modern missions. Mission work is changing rapidly as the world's cultures and global conditions are changing. Ease of travel and communication impact how the Gospel is spread. But at the heart of missions, there is the work of the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, and the obedience of the Church to carry out Jesus' command to go into all the earth.
We want to present challenging biblical truths, insights into today's missions environment, and progress reports on reaching the entire world with the Gospel. Please keep checking our blog regularly for updates, stories and challenging thoughts from Scripture!
In God’s timing, the movie Jesus Revolution was released just as the campus of Asbury College was becoming the focus of a spontaneous spiritual renewal happening among the students. Everything about our current American culture cries out for spiritual renewal: unprecedented violence, drug abuse, the search for personal identity and the cries for social justice. Whether you call it renewal, revival or revolution, our world needs Jesus as much as anytime in history.
I came to know Jesus in a deep, personal way in 1969 in Alabama at a place which came to be called “The Mission.” It was an...
The saying “Time flies when you’re having fun” seems to be truer every year. 2022 has come and gone in a flash. As my first full year at Reach A Village is now one for the books, I take a moment to pause and reflect on the events and activities that have defined it. From talking and praying with so many of you, our wonderful donors, to meeting international ministry partners on the mission field, to working closely with and getting to know my colleagues – it has all been such an incredible blessing.
The people that make up the Reach A Village team are among the most sincere and genuine...
Thanksgiving holidays are some of my most pleasant memories. The common memories of food, family, and fellowship come with vivid reminders of pleasant smells and lots of smiles. Thanksgiving is the topic of movies and has made its way into the national calendar as an annual holiday event. And it should, because we have so much for which to be thankful. We are a nation on whose shores and in whose streets are no warring invaders. The Covid pandemic has been brought under control. While food may be getting more expensive, there is no reason anyone should go hungry in America...
"Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land." -Proverbs 25:25
When was the last time you thirsty? So thirsty that your tongue sticks to the roof of your mouth? Perhaps after a strenuous workout, working outside on a hot day or times when you've had a high fever. We can all recall that satisfaction of cool water and the refreshment that comes with it.
This wonderful little verse, tucked in the book of Proverbs, directly relates to the ministry of Reach A Village in many ways. When Jesus was born in Israel 2,000 years ago, the angels first declared the news of His birth...

Since February 1, 2021, Myanmar — also known as Burma — has faced tragedies that most of us will never experience. The military junta assumed full control of the country. A shadow unity government formed in exile, and they encouraged citizens in every village to rise up with arms against the military. This action enraged the military. Bombings and bloodshed took place throughout the country.
Myanmar escaped the first waves of COVID-19, but people were caught off guard by more transmissible variants. The military hoarded vaccines and PPE. The remaining few hospitals had limited supplies and...
"We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ." -2 Corinthians 10:4-5
Outnumbered and outgunned, the whole world has been shocked by the recent success of the Ukrainians against invading Russian troops. No one doubts the tenacity and courage of the Ukrainians. From the president down to the common citizens, the resistance and resilience of the Ukrainians has been played...
Perhaps one of the best known scriptures about vision is found in Acts 16. Paul the apostle had a vision of a person from Macedonia calling for him to come and help them. That vision opened up a way for the rest of the known world in that day to hear the Gospel.
My personal vision for sharing the Gospel with other cultures and countries came first when God gave me a burden for the people of Southeast Asia. They were embroiled in a war, which was very much in the minds and headlines of my generation. In 1972, there were very few believers in that area of the world — especially in comparison...
On July 12, 2022, our Thai ministry partners broke the record again for the single largest baptism in the history of the nation! An enormous 1,588 people took this step of faith. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many people had waited two years or more.
This breaks the record of 1,435 that occurred in September 2020. The FJCCA, our ministry partners, are planning more large group baptisms in the weeks ahead.
On August 1st, another 585 people were baptized. Two weeks later, another 1,260 people took this step of faith. That is over 3,400 people baptized in less than six weeks!
To God be the...
Easter, as celebrated by most of the Christian world, is dominated by the sufferings of Christ as evidenced by processionals depicting the “passion of the Christ” and Easter “passion” plays. Focusing on the suffering of Jesus in His human body is only looking at one small snapshot of a much bigger picture.
The crucifixion of Christ, as horrible as it was, was not just a single event on a single day. It was an eternal truth. According to Revelation 13:8, Jesus was the “Lamb slain from the foundation of the world”. Think about that! The eternal God who knows no “time” as we see it, had...
