Pavel was born into a Christian family in Ukraine. Although he can hear and speak, his parents are both deaf. This situation created a lot of misunderstandings as he was growing up, and their relationship was difficult.
From a young age, Pavel attended Sunday School and learned about Jesus Christ. “I prayed the prayer of repentance at age 17,” he says. “But that didn’t resolve the deep issues I was experiencing in my relationships with my parents and other relatives. I tried to change things by praying, fasting, studying, but nothing worked. I knew I wasn’t growing spiritually.”
When the full-scale war began following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Pavel cried out to God for help. Not just with his family relationships, but also because he knew he needed to grow spiritually in order to endure this crisis. “I wanted to become useful in God’s work,” he says. “God used a sister in Christ to invite me to a Bible seminar.”
In February 2025, Pavel, now aged 22, attended the first seminar led by one ministry partner. “This was truly an answer to prayer,” he says. “The teaching about spiritual condition and the root causes that block growth and ministry helped me see my own state clearly.”
With God’s help, Pavel began to process his childhood trauma, forgiving those who had hurt him and reconciling with his non-believing relatives. His relationship with his parents also improved.
“After the second seminar, I not only experienced spiritual breakthrough, but also physical healing,” Pavel says. “My stress and anxiety lifted, and for the first time in years, I gained weight and began to feel healthy again.” He now understands how to have peace in his heart through Jesus. His healing from trauma has enabled him to serve God more effectively.
“I’m deeply grateful to God and those that have helped me,” Pavel says. “Now I have powerful tools for spiritual growth and dealing with obstacles to ministry. I’m praying about starting a Bible study group for people with hearing loss who also need spiritual growth. As I grow in my faith, I want to serve God and others.”
“Jesus replied, ‘Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it’” (Luke 11:28).
