Pranom had reached the end of all her human answers to life’s most difficult questions. Finally, she asked herself: “How much longer can I live like this?”
During her five decades of life in Thailand, she had fought many battles — inner battles, worldly battles, life’s hardships and trials. “I was ashamed to share my troubles with anyone,” Pranom says. “I tried to carry the weight of these trials alone. I tried to think and plan my way out of difficult situations. But the more I tried to handle things on my own, the more exhausted I became. Finally, I was certain there were no answers to my problems.”
That was when God sent Anuman, one of our ministry partners, into Pranom’s life. “Anuman came to me with a simple message,” Pranom recalls. “He told me that Jesus loves me and wants to help me. I will admit that I didn’t even know who Jesus was at that time. But something about what Anuman told me struck my heart.”
Together, Anuman and Pranom went to the Lord in prayer. Anuman prayed a simple prayer and assured Pranom that Jesus was listening.
“Even though I didn’t fully comprehend what was happening that day, I felt an unexpected warmth in my heart, a sense that someone truly understood what I was going through,” Pranom says. “And I believed that Jesus was listening.”
Anuman encouraged Pranom to pray on her own, too. He told her to speak simply and sincerely to Jesus, as if Jesus were a close friend, and tell Jesus whatever was on her mind.
“The more I prayed, the more changes I saw in myself,” Pranom says. “The restlessness in my heart began to settle. The heaviness I had carried for so long started to lift. The problems were still there, but I no longer felt alone. Hope began to take root. I found a peace I had never known before.”
Today, Pranom is learning more about Jesus by studying God’s Word, and still praying in her own simple way, every day. She knows that Jesus is listening and that Jesus loves her unconditionally.
“I thank Jesus for changing my heart,” Pranom says. “I thank my Christian brother Anuman for having the courage to reach out to me when I was at my weakest. Because of his courage, I came to know Jesus and discovered God’s love.”
