Peace Beyond All Human Understanding

“My life hasn’t been easy,” says Suk Maitri from Thailand. “I’m just an ordinary woman who has had to work hard to support my family. I have taken on many responsibilities since I was young. And that hasn’t changed to this day.”

For the past several years, Maitri has been deeply worried about her finances. Her endless expenses — food, electricity, medicine, transportation — weigh heavily on her. “Some months, I barely have enough to get by,” she says. “Sometimes, I’ve had to borrow money or cut out essentials. I’ve spent many nights sitting alone and wondering how I will keep going. The weight of it all has been crushing.”

Maitri didn’t want to tell anyone about her needs because she was afraid of becoming a burden. She often pressured herself so much that she became overwhelmed. Some nights, she cried in silence. At her lowest point, she wondered why she had even been born.

But Jesus didn’t let Maitri stay in that darkness. One day, her neighbor invited her to a Bible study in their village. “I went, not expecting anything, just hoping for a break from my endless cycle of negative thoughts,” Maitri says. “That day, I heard these words of Jesus from the Bible: ‘Do not worry about what you will eat, drink or wear ... For your heavenly Father knows that you need these things [Matthew 6:31–32]. I felt as if Jesus was speaking directly to me. Straight to the burden I had carried in my heart for so long. I couldn’t hold back my tears.”

That night, for the first time in her life, Maitri prayed: "Jesus, help me. I’m exhausted. Let me know You." Jesus answered — not with a sudden fortune, but with peace in her heart.

“I felt a calmness like nothing I had ever known before,” Maitri says. “Now, instead of constantly worrying about money, I am seeing how Jesus is working in my life. Jesus makes sure I always have enough. Now, I believe that Jesus is the one who provides. I still have to carefully manage my expenses each month, but my heart has changed.”

Maitri’s life was once filled with fear, stress and anxiety. Now, she shares the overflowing peace, hope, and confidence she has with everyone she meets. “I know Jesus will never leave me,” she says. “I thank Him for changing my situation and for changing my heart. He strengthens me and teaches me to trust in Him completely.”
