When Help Is Needed Most

Bozhidar lives in Bulgaria with his wife, Yoana. She began studying the Bible, praying and worshipping God with some local Christ followers in their village. “My husband was against this,” she says. “At times, he was even rude to my new friends and spoke harshly to them. But I kept meeting with them.”

In 2024, while Bozhidar and Yoana were asleep, their house caught fire. “We escaped, but our house and all our belongings were lost,” he says. “We had nothing left, and we didn’t know what we were going to do.”

Bozhidar and Yoana needed help, and Yoana’s Christian friends did everything they could to care for them. One of the men is a builder, and he led a group in constructing a new home for the young couple. Another believer began collecting clothes and cash for them.

Bozhidar was deeply touched by these demonstrations of love and decided to visit the church with Yoana. What he found there impressed him even more. “The kindness and faith of these people are real,” he says. “Being with them helps me every day.”

Soon, Bozhidar and Yoana began gathering regularly with this group of believers. In August 2025, he repented and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.

“Now, I have a Bible of my own to read,” he says. “I plan to be baptized soon. Many of my friends are involved in crime, and I’m telling them about Jesus. We are praying that God will touch their hearts and transform more lives in our village.”
